"SCHGS goes to School..."
The Sullivan County Historical and
Genealogical Society feels that our children are our
greatest asset and we want to do our part in helping
them to establish family values while enjoying a delightful
learning experience.
Thus, we have designed a hands-on exercise and program
to assist our young people in exploring the roots
of their ancestry while obtaining the reward of possessing
detailed documentation for their immediate pleasure
and as an historical impact for generations to come.
Hopefully this project will enhance quality interaction
of family members that will also become involved and
share in the rewards of the students efforts.
During the month of February, SCHGS visited all Middle
Schools and High Schools in Sullivan Co., TN and presented
our School Genealogy Project Package consisting of
all necessary research tools to outline and assist
in a project of discovering family history. SCHGS
will furnish each participating class with ample quantities
of forms, charts, detailed research aids and guides.
We are also offering class group and individual tours
of the Sullivan County Archives.
Although this program has been presented in our home
base of Sullivan County, we will happily make the
same project available to school classes anywhere.
Please contact us by mail, by telephone (423) 323-4660
