Calendar of Events 

The Sullivan County Historical and Genealogical Society holds its regularly scheduled meetings at 7 p.m. on the 3rd Thursday of each month. Meetings are held at the Sullivan County Courthouse, 2nd Floor Commission Room, in historic downtown Blountville. In the event that a meeting will be held at another location, such as our Summer picnic and our annual Christmas celebration, the places will be posted here. We warmly welcome you to our upcoming events!

Mar 20 "The Battle of Blue Springs"
What really happened at Blue Springs? Don't miss this one! You won't believe your eyes! This presentation is full of surprises! Taste the battle, see the soldiers, and hear the saga as Carlos Whaley brings the story to life! The event will take place March 20, 2008, at 7 p.m., Sullivan County Courthouse, in historic Blountville, Tennessee. Click photo for more info.

"Sullivan County Genealogy Homecoming"
Come home to Sullivan County. Find unique records on your ancestors. The Sullivan County Historical and Genealogical Society, in conjunction with the Sullivan County Archives, is sponsoring a simple homecoming event for all of us who have Sullivan County ancestors.

 
May 15

"A Military Salute"
Did your father or grandfather fight for our country? Be sure to register and put his name on the roll of honor for this special event. All individuals, military organizations, and area lineage organizations are encouraged to participate in this rare, one-of-a-kind event. This event is free and open to the general public. Our Location

Our SCHGS home is located in the Sullivan County Archives in historic downtown Blountville, Tennessee. Our members support the Sullivan County Archives in its preservation efforts of regional history and genealogy. Come see what's happenin'! You won't believe the wealth of information at the Archives!

The SCHGS Journal

Memberships are $20 per year for individual and family memberships. Annual memberships are due and payable on January 1 of each year, and may be made mailed to SCHGS, P.O. Box 568, Blountville, TN 37617.

Each member of the Sullivan County Genealogical Society will receive our SCHGS Journal, a semiannual publication printed in the Spring and Fall of each year. Each issue of the journal contains approximately 80 to 100 page of historical and genealogical information about Sullivan County and surrounding areas of East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.
