The
Battle of Blue Springs
What really
happened at Blue Springs, an important Civil War battle
that affected all of East Tennessee history?
On Thursday, March 20, 2008,
renowned lecturer and orator, Carlos Whaley, will
bring this amazing battle to life! You will be pleasantly
surprised as you taste the battle, see the soldiers,
and hear the saga presented by Carlos Whaley at Blountville,
Tennessee on March 20, 2008. Sponsored
by the Sullivan County Historical and Genealogical
Society, the event will be held at 7 p.m. at the
Sullivan County Courthouse.
Carlos Whaley grew up in the
Boones Creek area of Washington County, Tennessee.
He presently serves as Federal Communications Officer
for the Battle of Blue Springs Planning Committee.
He also serves as Co-Chair of Andrew Johnson Bicentennial
Celebration Steering Committee, and is a Civil War
Re-enactor for the U.S. Signal Corps, Confederate
Signal Service. Mr. Whaley is a member of Andrew Johnson
Heritage Association, the Wilderness Trail Corridor
Alliance, and Boones Creek Heritage Trust; he additionally
serves as Venture Crew Leader for Boy Scouts of American
in the capacity of training Civil War re-enactors.
He serves as President of E&M Business Consultants,
a financial consulting firm. Carlos and his wife Connie
raise llamas and horses on Fodderstack Mountain near
Baileyton in Greene County, Tennessee.
